
Smt. Thejaswini Raj
Smt Thejaswini Raj is an accomplished professional dance teacher with over 30 years of dance experience. She is well known for her intricate choreography skills be it an intricate Nritya Pattern or an in depth detailed Abhinaya piece. She follows the Kattu Manar Koyil Muthukumaran Pillai style of Bharatanatyam under the guidance of her father, late Shri C.V.Srinivasan, who is the direct disciple of Kattu Manar Koyil. Smt Thejaswini Raj continued her training under the tutelage of other renowned Gurus of South India in the Pandhanallur style. She established ShivaJyothi dance Academy in 1980 in Mumbai and since then has trained numerous students in the art, many of who have been awarded national scholarships and won many dance awards and competitions. Her students have performed at the Lincoln Center, NY, World Conference of Music and dance, California and the Celeveland Aradhana festival, Celeveland, OH along with other prestigious venues in India. Her productions Devi Bhagvatam and Sri Krishna Geetam have been widely performed and appreciated in the Tri-State area. She has been learning Kanjira from Sri A.R. Balaskandan since 2005 and is a part of the Akshara Music Ensemble
